KSP Post 15 Activity Report for January 2016

Traffic fatalities up by one vs. year ago statistics

Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, KY

COLUMBIA, KY (Mon 01 Feb 2016) - During the month of January 2016, there were 25 traffic accidents investigated by the State Police working in the Post 15 area in the 11 counties of Adair, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Green, Marion, Metcalfe, Monroe, Russell, Taylor and Washington.

There were two fatal collisions during the month of January in the Post 15 area.
- James L. Thompson, 61, Marion Co KY was killed on 01/04/16 in Marion Co KY.
- James Braden, 66, Adair Co, KY was killed on 01/08/16 in Adair Co KY.
This brings our yearly fatality count to 2 compared with 1 through this same period in 2015.

Statewide fatality count stands at 40 compared with 75 through this same period in 2015.

During the month of January 2016, there were 887 citations written, 45 courtesy notices written, 1094 vehicles inspected, 551 complaints answered, 187 motorists assisted, 48 criminal cases opened and 125 criminal arrests made.
