CU men's basketball remains at No. 18 in NAIA Rankings By Jordan Alves CU sports information director Kansas City, MO - Campbellsville Tiger basketball stayed idle this week in the NAIA Coaches' Top 25 poll. Officials announced Tuesday night the Tigers would remain at No. 18 for the second-straight week - and third time this season. Campbellsville (15-5, 4-4 MSC) gained 113 voting points from the national raters this week and remain in the same position as they started the season. The Tigers are hosting two crucial Mid-South Conference opponents this week - Shawnee State on Thursday, Jan. 28 and Georgetown College on Saturday, Jan. 30. Campbellsville is one of five Mid-South teams mentioned inside the poll. University of Pikeville remained at No. 1 with an 18-1 record and eight first-place votes. The Bears are now tied for the seventh-most No. 1 mentions with seven. UPIKE did fall last night (83-78) to Georgetown College, who came in this week at No. 5. That loss for the Bears will go into effect in next week's Top 25 poll. After Campbellsville's No. 18 ranking, the Tigers are followed by Lindsey Wilson and University of the Cumberlands which are still receiving votes. Following UPIKE, the top five remained intact from last week's edition - which is the first time that has happened all season. LSU Alexandria gained one first-place vote and came in with 240 points this week to sit at No. 2. Behind them is Lewis-Clark State and No. 3, Columbia at No. 4 and Georgetown rounds out the top five. The Tigers also picked up the final first-place vote. This story was posted on 2016-01-26 19:26:30
