Personal commentary

Well said.

We definitely need more transparency in local government but it will not happen until the citizens, especially the voting public demand it. When only one magistrate had enough principal to refuse to vote for a law that none of them had read and a law that on the face of it seemed to be severally flawed, it seems that the citizens of the various districts need to start being more concerned about how their elected representative is acting and why.

Ralph has also raised another long standing issue regarding just how much longer an economically challenged community of 4500 souls can continue to afford the wide spread duplication of services to support both City and County operations.

With the per capita income $2000 less that it was in the year 2000 and a median household income that is $20,000 less than the State at large, it appears that maybe the time to get serious about local government is at or reaching a critical point.
