Bevin announces two key appointments to governor's office by Jessica Ditto Frankfort, KY - Today, Governor Bevin announced two key appointments to the Governor's Office. Nate Haney will serve as Deputy Secretary of the Executive Cabinet and Bryan Sunderland has been named Legislative Director. "I am excited to announce these two key appointments," said Governor Bevin. "Nate Haney brings a high degree of business and relationship skills necessary to manage the diverse set of issues that the Executive Cabinet oversees. Bryan Sunderland, with more than a decade of experience driving policy, is highly regarded around the state for his legislative expertise and effectiveness in Frankfort. Both of these men will be an asset to our office as we work together on solutions that will benefit all Kentuckians." Haney, a native of Paintsville, brings a diverse professional background to the position, with experience in law, business and politics. Haney most recently served as managing partner and owner of Haney and White Enterprise, LLC. "I am honored to have this unique opportunity to serve Kentucky and realize a dream," said Haney. "I look forward to helping further Governor Bevin's agenda and working with a great statesman in Secretary Brinkman." Haney holds a Master's of Business Administration from the W. Fielding Rubel School of Business at Bellarmine University, a Juris Doctor from the Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville, and a Bachelor's of Political Science with an emphasis in Law and Public Policy from the University of Louisville. He previously served as chair of the Jefferson County Republican Party. Sunderland has worked for the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce for the past 10 years, most recently as Senior Vice President of Public Affairs. Prior to joining the Chamber, he served more than five years as staff to the Kentucky General Assembly, serving in both senior policy and communications roles. "I am excited for the opportunity to serve in this capacity to help shape the future of Kentucky," said Sunderland. "I look forward to working with the impressive team Governor Bevin has assembled and pledge my best efforts to working with the General Assembly to enact change that will provide more opportunities for our fellow citizens." Sunderland graduated cum laude from the University of Kentucky with a degree in political science and is a 2011 graduate of Leadership Kentucky.
