Mr. Billy Lucian Squires, 73, Green Co., KY (1942-2016)

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Summer Shade United Methodist Church. Mr. Squires was retired President of the Kentucky United Methodist Foundation, worked in the Development Office at Lindsey Wilson College for 15 years, and was a member of the Greensburg Masonic Lodge #54 F&AM. He was the son of the late Lucian Durham Squires and the late Mattie Marie Shuffett Squires, and the widower of Jayne Wesley Smith Squires, his wife of 41 years. He leaves six direct living descendants.

Mr. Billy Lucian Squires, age 73, of Greensburg, KY, passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2016, at the Greensburg Care Home, Greensburg, KY.

The funeral services for Mr. Billy Lucian Squires will be conducted at 2pmCT, Thursday, January 14, 2016, at the Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S Main Street, Greensburg, KY. Bro. Bill Davenport will be officiating. burial to follow in the Summershade Cemetery in Green County. Visitation is requested from 4pm until 8pmCT, Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7amCT, Thursday until time of the funeral service. There will be Masonic Rite Services held at 7pmCT, Wednesday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home conducted by the Greensburg Masonic Lodge #54 F&AM. All Master Masons are to meet at the lodge at 6pmCT.

He was the son of the late Lucian Durham Squires and Mattie Marie Shuffett Squires, He was born September 16, 1942, in Green County, KY. He died in Greensburg, Green County, KY, Sunday, January 10, 2016, at the age of 73 years, three months, and 25 days.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Summer Shade United Methodist Church. Mr. Squires was retired President of the Kentucky United Methodist Foundation, worked in the Development Office at Lindsey Wilson College for 15 years, and was a member of the Greensburg Masonic Lodge #54 F&AM.

His wife of 41 years, Jayne Wesley Smith Squires, preceded him in death September 21, 2012.

He is survived by the following:
  • A son & daughter-in-law: Wade & Susan Squires of Greensburg, KY

  • A daughter & son-in-law: Melinda & Charles Senters of Somerset, KY

  • Four grandchildren: Calen Squires and Madi Squires, of Greensburg, KY; and Sam Senters and Alex Senters, of Somerset, KY

  • A sister & brother-in-law: Barbara & Joe Tommy Hodges of Summersville, KY

  • Four other brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Ronnie & Jenny Smith and Jon Bruce & Karen Smith, all of Hazard, KY

  • And a host of other relatives and friends.
Memorials are suggested to the L.D. & Marie Squires Endowed Scholarship Fund at LWC, which can be made at the funeral home.
