CES students join the Accelerated Reader Club Click on headline for complete story By Calen McKinney, Public Information Officer Campbellsville Independent School District Campbellsville Elementary School students are working hard to learn reading skills, and many have recently joined the school's Accelerated Reader Club. New members of the 10-Point Club are first-grader Stephen Green, second-grader Timothy Coots and third-graders Skylar Wilhoite, Deason Smith, Lillian Sears, Lydia Miller, Ivy Lawler, Julius Jones, Jaxon Garrett, Landon Dykes and Christopher Cox. New to the 25-Point Club are second-grader Cayton Lawhorn and third-graders Noah Leachman, Peyton Smith, Noah Patterson, Gabriel Noyola and Jose Luna. And, the first student to be added to the 50-Point Club this school year is third-grader Anna Floyd. Accelerated Reader is a motivational program used to help students with reading skills. Students read books and answer questions about them. The student is awarded points based on how many questions they answer correctly on the quiz. AR isn't required at CES, though the majority of second- and third-grade students are participating. Some kindergarten and first-grade students are also participating. CES students take AR quizzes on their own time, either before or after school, or during the day if they have finished with their other academic work. While CES has long offered AR to its students, it recently re-created its AR Club to recognize students who have worked hard to accumulate points. This story was posted on 2015-12-09 19:19:24
