By Calen McKinney, Public Information Officer
Campbellsville Independent School District

Campbellsville Middle School students have received 4-H awards, with two being the top honors given to junior and senior members.

Taylor County 4-H Council recently presented this year's outstanding member and superstar awards.

CMS eighth-grader Fatimah Alabusalim was named this year's Outstanding Senior Member, the top award given to senior members by the 4-H council. Senior members are those ages 14 to 18.

Alabusalim has helped with 4-H Council events, attended 4-H Teen Summit and reached the second level in the achievement program.

She has also attended many day camps and workshops throughout the year as well as participating in the Talk Meet contest, poetry contest and the Taylor County Fair Dairy Show.

She was named the Senior Champion in the health division of the Demonstration Contest at the county and district level and received the Grand Champion award at State Communications Day.

Alabusalim also exhibited several items in the county and state fairs. She received a $30 award.

This year's Outstanding Junior Member award went to CMS seventh-grader Hassan Alabusalim.

Taylor County Extension Agent for 4-H Youth Development Amanda Sublett said she doesn't believe a brother and sister have ever won the outstanding junior and senior member awards in the same year before now.

Junior members are those ages 9 to 13.

Hassan Alabusalim attended 4-H Teen Summit and reached the first level in the achievement program. He has also attended many day camps and workshops throughout the year as well as participating in the Talk Meet contest, poetry contest and showed in the Taylor County Fair Dairy Show, where he was selected as the Junior Showmanship Champion.

Hassan Alabusalim was the Junior Champion in the General Division of the Demonstration Contest at the county level and received a blue ribbon at the district level. He exhibited several items in the county and state fairs. He received a $20 award.

CMS sixth-grader Hadey Alabusalim, a sibling to Fatimah and Hassan, received a 4-H Superstar award.
