Mrs. Vera Mae Harris, Green Co., KY (1958-2015)

She was the matriarch of a large Green County, KY, family. She was a native of Terre Haute, Indiana and a resident of Green County, at the time of her death. Her husband, Raymond Lee Harris, survives. She leaves 47 direct living descendants.

Mrs. Vera Mae Harris of Greensburg, Kentucky departed this life on Monday, November 23, 2015 at her home in Greensburg. She was 57 years, and two days of age. The family chose cremation with no public services or visitation. Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S Main Street, Greensburg, KY, in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Vera Mae Harris of Greensburg, Kentucky, was the daughter of the late Emerole Jefferson Johnson and Jessie Carolyn Danford Matherly. She was born on November 21, 1958 in Terre Haute, Indiana, and departed this life on Monday, November 23, 2015 at her home in Greensburg. She was 57 years, and two days of age.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond Lee Harris of Greensburg, KY, and the following:
  • Her children: Shana Parson of Greensburg, KY; Billie and Sarah Lockard of Campbellsville, KY; John Lockard, Scott and Crystal Lockard, all of Greensburg, KY; Danny and Margaret Lockard of Indiana; Jimmy and Becky Lockard of Indiana; Amanda Young of Greensburg, KY; and Eric Harris of Lebanon, KY

  • Three brothers and three sisters: Emerole Jefferson Johnson, Jr., Robert Johnson, Sr., Tim Johnson, Sr. all of Indiana; Brenda Smith of Greensburg, KY; Mary Leonard of Radcliff, KY; Diana Peretiatko of Florida

  • Twenty nine grandchildren

  • Nine great-grandchildren

  • And a host of other relatives and friends
Mrs. Harris was also preceded in death by a grandson: Tyler Dewayne Murphy on January 21, 2015; two brothers: Howard Johnson, and Danny J. Johnson; and a sister: Debra Harris.

The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the funeral fund, which can be made at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home.
