By Chris Wells COLUMBIA, KY (Tue 3 Nov 2015) - The newly anointed No. 2-ranked Lindsey Wilson volleyball team secured at least a share of the Mid-South Conference regular season title tonight with a 25-22, 25-17, 25-22 win over No. 13-ranked Georgetown (KY) at Biggers Sports Center. The win locks up the top seed for the Blue Raiders - who moved up one spot in the national poll earlier today - in next week's MSC Tournament in Bowling Green, KY. Despite hitting just .195 as a team during the match, the Blue Raiders did their best work when in counted in the most -- in the waning stages of the each set. Lindsey Wilson (28-3, 14-1 in the MSC) outscored the Tigers a combined 24-6 in the final 10 points of each set. In the opening set, Lindsey Wilson overcame a four-point deficit late by scoring eight of the final nine points to win set one 25-22. Prior to the run, Lindsey Wilson and Georgetown exchange the lead five times. Back-to-back assisted blocks by Madison Molitor and Jamie Jehne ignited the closing run, giving Lindsey Wilson a 22-21 lead. Lindsey Wilson finished with 18 block assists, led by Molitor's five. Jehne added three block assists. Georgetown (25-5, 13-2) got into the blocking act, as Kaysie Massie and Ashlee Howe tied the set at 22-22 with a combined block. The Tigers' block produced 16 block assists for the match. Jehne put the Blue Raiders in front for good with a kill and Ragni Knudsen closed the set with three straight kills to give Lindsey Wilson a 1-0 lead. Knudsen ended the night with seven kills. After hitting just .194 in the opening set, the Lindsey Wilson attack produced 12 kills and just three errors to hit .310 in a 25-17 second-set win. Georgetown started fast, taking a 6-1 lead in the set. The Blue Raiders methodically chipped away at the deficit, ultimately tying the set at 8-8. Again tied at 16-16, Lindsey Wilson used another devastating close to take the second set. Carol Siqueira led the charge, recording five kills in a 9-1 spurt to give Lindsey Wilson a 2-0 lead in the match. Siqueira finished with a match-high 18 kills while hitting .333. Lindsey Wilson won six of the first nine points of the third set and looked to be on its way to the sweep. Georgetown, however, had other thoughts. Trailing 18-16, the Tigers used a pair of Lindsey Wilson attack errors and two Caroline Ricks' kills to score four straight points to take a 20-18 lead. In what proved to be the theme of the night, Lindsey Wilson scored seven of the final nine points to secure the 25-22 win -- its 31st straight at home. Siqueira was once again the ringleader in the charge, producing kills in the final three points for the win. Reining MSC Setter of the Week, Makenzie Montano led the Blue Raiders with a match-high 30 assists while Caitlyn Tino (15) and Alexa Just (10) led Lindsey Wilson in digs. Corri Muha finished with a team-high eight kills while Ricks, Howell and Lauren Schneidtmiller each had seven. Georgetown ended the match hitting .115 as a squad.
