LWC Baseball favored to capture MSC title in 2016 By Charlie Balcom The Lindsey Wilson College baseball team is the favorite to capture the Mid-South Conference regular-season title in 2016, according to the MSC Preseason Coaches' Poll released by conference officials on Tuesday. The Blue Raiders received 47 total voting points and five first-place votes from the conference head coaches. Coaches are not allowed to vote for their own team. Lindsey Wilson reached the program's first NAIA World Series in 2015 after winning the MSC Tournament and the NAIA Opening Round - Kingsport Bracket last spring. The Blue Raiders finished 2015 with a 41-19 overall record. Campbellsville finished a close second in the balloting. The Tigers -- the defending MSC regular-season champions -- received 44 voting points and the final three first-place votes. Cumberland (Tenn.) is third in the poll with 36 voting points followed by St. Catharine (Ky.) with 30 voting points. Georgetown's (Ky.) 25 voting points put the Tigers fifth in the preseason poll while Cumberlands' (Ky.) 22 voting points are sixth best. Shawnee State (Ohio) and Pikeville (Ky.) complete the eight-team poll with 13 and seven voting points, respectively. The Mid-South Conference regular season begins March 11, with the MSC Tournament set for late April and into May at Bowling Green Ballpark in Bowling Green, Ky.
