Adair Schools on heightened alert as precautionary measure No indication of a threat, but recent, possibly prank or by mistake Tip, SRO Kevin Atwood and Adair County schools network administrator Jason Rector are currently investigating who may have left the message AND schools are taking all precautions to assure safety of Adair County School District students By Superintendent Alan W. Reed On Wednesday afternoon we received an unusual report through our Safe Schools STOP Tipline. Although it did not contain any specific, nor implied threats, we were placed on heightened alert with the content of the report. After some research, we found that the information was copied from a blog from 2009. Although it contained no indication of a threat, School Resource Officer Kevin Atwood and Adair Co. Schools Network Administrator Jason Rector are currently looking into information that could help the district pinpoint who may have sent this to the tip line as well as their purpose. In light of this unusual report, we will be taking some extra precautions around our campus for the next few days. Our top priority is always maintaining a safe campus for our students, staff and visitors. We do not have any indication this was a direct threat to our schools or district but as a district we will always stand on the side of caution in situations such as this. If you have any information on this situation or have any questions feel free to contact us at the Adair County Board of Education at 270-384-2476. Alan W. Reed, Superintendent Adair County Schools 1204 Greensburg Street Columbia, KY 42728 270-384-2476 This story was posted on 2015-10-29 07:54:26
