Alvin Foster Spoon, 69, Adair Co., KY (1946-2015)

He was a member of Hadley's Community Church and the former owner of Alvin Spoon Trucking. He was a member of a large, highly regarded South Adair County, KY, family. He was the son of Thelma Smith Spoon, who survives, and the late Garvin Spoon. His wife, Bonnie Spoon, survives. He leaves 13 direct living descendants.

Alvin Foster Spoon, 69, of Fairplay, KY, passed away Friday October 2, 2015, at 4:26pmCT, at Westlake Regional Hospital Emergency Room, Columbia, KY.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at 11amCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, with Rev. Elbert Hadley the officiating clergy. Interment will be in Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation will be after 3:30pmCT, Monday, October 5, 2015, at the funeral home.



Alvin Foster Spoon, 69, Adair Co., KY (1946-2015)


He was born on Saturday, February 9, 1946 in Adair County, KY. He was the son of the late Garvin Spoon and Thelma Smith Spoon, who survives. He died Friday, October 2, 2015, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 69 years, seven months, and 23 days.

Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife, Bonnie Spoon. of Fairplay, KY, and the following:
  • Three sons: Jeffrey Wayne Spoon of Fairplay, KY; Gary Lynn Spoon of Columbia, KY; and Kevin Spoon & his wife Heather of Fairplay, KY

  • Two brothers: Amon Spoon & his Judy of Fairplay, KY; and Lester Spoon & his wife Julita of Fairplay, KY

  • Four sisters: Arlene Corbin of Columbia, KY; Alterine Hadley & her husband Clifton of Fairplay, KY; Bernadine Judd of Lawrenceville, GA; and Geneva Sok & husband Mark of Lexington, KY

  • Ten grandchilden

  • Several nieces, nephews

  • And a host of other relatives and friends
Alvin was a member of Hadley's Community Church and the former owner of Alvin Spoon Trucking.
