Kentucky Color: Did you ever wonder? - About gas prices? Yesterday, the writer saved $10 on a 20 gallon fill up in Chattanooga, TN than he would have in Columbia, KY. And he wants to know why? Personal Commentary By Billy Joe Fudge, Retired District Forester Kentucky Division of Forestry You ever wonder what may be the single most inhibiting factor to economic growth in Columbia/Adair County? You ever wonder what may be the single most inhibiting factor to folks being able to rise above the poverty level in Columbia/Adair County? You ever wonder why gas prices can go up $0.20 per gallon in a single day in Columbia/Adair County when they may only go up $0.05 per gallon in much of Greater South Central Kentucky? You ever wonder why I paid $10.00 less for a 20 gallon fill up in Chattanooga yesterday than I would have paid for that same fill up had I waited until I arrived in Columbia/Adair County? You ever wonder why I would have paid $4.00 less for that same 20 gallon fill up had I filled up in Burkesville rather than filling up in Columbia/Adair County? You ever wonder why the reply to inquiries we make to our state government officials concerning the high gas prices in our area is always "supply and demand" and "competition"? You ever wonder why most of our local politicians do not speak out concerning this continual disparity between Columbia/Adair County and much of Greater South Central Kentucky's gas prices? You ever wonder? This story was posted on 2015-09-27 10:05:28
