Murl Martin, 68, Casey County, KY (1946-2015)

Murl was a logger, barber and carpenter. He was a former member of the Masonic Lodge. He was a native of Casey County, KY, a resident of the county at the time of his death, and his final resting place will be in the county of his birth. He was the son of the late Hayden Martin and Villa Marie Wilson Martin. His wife, Flossie Rich Martin, survives. He leaves seven direct living descendants.

Murl Martin of Liberty, KY passed away Saturday, August 29, 2015 at the Casey County Hospital, Liberty, KY. He was 68.

Funeral services are at 12pmCT/1pmET, Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY, with Bro. Marty Shackelford officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Contown Cemetery. Visitation is 5pm-7pmCT/6pm-8pmET, Monday, August 31, 2015 from at the funeral home.

Born Wednesday, November 13, 1946 in Casey County, KY, he was the son of the late Hayden Martin and Villa Marie Wilson Martin. She died Saturday, August 29, 2015, in Liberty, Casey County, KY, at the age of 68 years, nine months, and 16 days.

Murl was a logger, barber and carpenter. He was a former member of the Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Flossie Rich Martin of Liberty, KY, and the following:
  • Two daughters: Tammy Reneah Martin of Liberty, KY; and Amanda Martin of Harrodsburg, KY

  • Four grandchildren: Brandi, Alyx, Gracie, and Carson

  • A great-grandchild, Matilda

  • Two brothers: Larry and Billy Martin both of Liberty
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Louis Anthony Martin; and four brothers, Donald, Melvin, Woodrow and Monroe Martin.
