Edith Young, 85, Russell County, KY (1929-2015)

She was the matriarch of a large, popular family with strong roots in her native Cumberland County, as well as Adair, Green, Russell Counties of South Central Kentucky and elsewhere. She was the daughter of the late Bob and Lavesta Daniels Logston and the widow of Wilmuth Young. She leaves 18 direct living descendants. She was a member of Mt. Gilead Christian Church in Green County and attended Shiloh Christian Church in Adair County. She was a former employee of Summit Manor Health & Rehab in Columbia, KY. She will be laid to rest in Adair County, KY.

Edith Young, 85, of Russell Springs, KY, formerly of Columbia, passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at Cumberland County Hospital in Burkesville, KY.

Funeral service, Friday, August 21, 2015 at 1pmCT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY. Burial will be in Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. Family request visitation on Thursday from 5pmCT until 9pmCT at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home. Casket Bearers: Jeremy Sneed, Josh Wilson, Tyron VanArsdale, Hayden VanArsdale, Keith Owens, and Brian Young.



Edith Young, 85, Russell County, KY (1929-2015)

Edith was born Wednesday, September 4, 1929, in Cumberland County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Bob and Lavesta Daniels Logston. She died Tuesday, August 18, 2015, in Burkesville, Cumberland County, KY, at the age of 85 years, 11 months, and 14 days.

She was a member of Mt. Gilead Christian Church in Green County and attended Shiloh Christian Church in Adair County. She was a former employee of Summit Manor Health & Rehab.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilmuth Young; one brother, Robert Mansfield Logston; and six sisters, Robbie Goodhue, Mae Brown, Nellie Baker, Mary Janes, Bernice Stockton, Marie Cooper.

Survivors include the following:
  • One son: Randy Young and his wife Diane of Columbia, KY

  • Six grandchildren: Brian (Shannon) Young of Jamestown, KY; Hannah Young of Columbia, KY; Jessica (Tyron) VanArsdale of Columbia; Chasity Young of Ruskin, FL; Jeremy (Beth) Sneed of Russell Springs, KY; and Josh (Kristie) Wilson of Greensburg, KY

  • Eleven great-grandchildren: Madison & Hayden VanArsdale, Caylen, Kipton, & Brayden Dial, Christian Young, Tinsley Burton, Gabby Trevino, Case Sneed, Kieffer Wilson and Callie Montgomery

  • A host of other relatives and friends
