Athletic Director Pooler names Mooney new head cycling coach

COLUMBIA, KY - Charles Mooney has been named head cycling coach at Lindsey Wilson College, athletic director Willis Pooler announced on Friday, July 31, 2015.



Mooney succeeds Andrew Parson, who moves to assistant coach in order to focus on other areas of the program.

"I am excited for the opportunity to lead this outstanding program," Mooney said. "Lindsey Wilson College cycling has always been a passion of mine and I am

Mooney is no stranger to Lindsey Wilson cycling. He won the a dual slalom national championship in 2004 as a member of the Blue Raider cycling team and last season served as the team's assistant coach.

"We are fortunate to have someone as talented as Charles to direct our highly accomplished cycling program," Pooler said. "He has a complete understanding of our college, and more importantly, a passion for our mission and positively impacting the lives of our student-athletes.

"I look forward to many more successes for our program under his leadership. Charles is also blessed to have someone like Andrew as an assistant coach. They will make an outstanding team."

Lindsey Wilson finished fifth in the 2014-15 USA Cycling National Collegiate Division 1 Rankings with 274 points. The Blue Raider cycling program was one of four Division 1 programs to score in all five disciplines -- track, mountain bike, cyclo-cross, BMX and road.
