Pedestrian dies after being struck by van on E 80, Columbia, KY

Victim, a Somerset, KY resident, was believed to have been returning to the home of a friend who lived within 1/2 mile of the tragedy. Van driver treated and released at Westlake Regional Hospital. KSP Tpr. Levi Scott was assisted at the scene by the Adair County Sheriff''s Department, Adair EMS and the Russell County Sheriff's Dept. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday at the State Medical Examiner's office in Louisville. The collision remains under investigation.

COLUMBIA, KY) - Tpr. Levi Scott is investigating a collision that occurred today at 1:18 AM CST at the 9800 block of KY 80 east of Columbia in Adair County. 53-year-old Rickie L. Collins, of Powell, TN, was operating a westbound 2007 Dodge Caravan when he drove over a hill crest and struck a pedestrian in the westbound lane.



27-year-old Tyler L. Brower. of Somerset, KY, was walking in the roadway and struck. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Adair County Coroner's office. It is believed that Brower was walking in an attempt to return to the home of a friend who lived within 1/2 mile of the collision site.

Collins was belted and was treated and released at Westlake Hospital. Tpr. Scott was assisted at the scene by the Adair County Sheriff''s Dept, EMS and the Russell County Sheriff's Dept. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday at the State Medical Examiner's office in Louisville. The collision remains under investigation.
