Lula Hawthorne, Green County, KY (1920-2015)

She was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, a seamstress and a homemaker. She was a native of Virginia and a resident of Green County, KY, at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late Arch William Aker and Cora Lee Kegley Aker. Her husband, Coy Hawthorne, survives. She leaves 44 direct living descendants spanning four generations.

Mrs. Lula Hawthorne, 94, departed this life Sunday, July 19, 2015 at her home in Green County, KY.

The funeral services will be at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, Hwy 88, Greensburg, KY, 10amCT, Saturday, July, 25, 2015. Visitation will be 6pm-8pmCT, Friday, July 24, 2015, at Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home, 209 W Court Street, Greensburg, KY, and after 8amCT, Saturday, at the church. Ministers will be Bro. Jon Hargan and Bro. Timmy Glass. Interment will be in Bethlehem Cemetery in Green County, KY



Pallbearers: Tim Hawthorne, Chris Hawthorne, Robert Hawthorne, Zeb Hawthorne, George Anderson and Trevor Calhoun

Lula Hawthorne, Green County, KY (1920-2015)

Mrs. Lula Hawthorne was born August 8, 1920 in Marion, Virginia to the late Arch William Aker and Cora Lee Kegley Aker. She departed this life Sunday, July 19, 2015 at her home in Green County, having attained the age of 94 years, 11 months and 11 days.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ as was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. She was a seamstress and homemaker.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by one son, Alvin Dwight Hawthorne; three brothers, Paul, Hobert and Howard Aker and two sisters, Florida Haulsee and Louise Lee.

She is survived by her husband, Coy Hawthorne, and the following:
  • Two daughters and one son-in-law and three sons and one daughter-in-law: Shirley Babbitt, Lester Hawthorne, Eddie and Kathy Hawthorne, all of Greensburg, KY; Peggy and Earl Babbitt of Cave City, KY; and Roger Hawthorne of Eufaula, Alabama

  • One brother-in-law and one sister-in-law: Guy Haulsee and Shirley Aker of Marion, Virginia

  • Sixteen grandchildren: David and George Anderson, Angela Jackson, Candace Calhoun, Chris and Sara Hawthorne, Beth Hall, Kimberly Chambers, James Nethery, Amy Kessler, Robert and Zeb Hawthorne, Natalie Riggs, Dennis Hawthorne, Susan Gephart and Tim Hawthorne

  • Twenty-one great grandchildren

  • Two great-great grandchildren

  • Plus a host of other relatives and friends
