Joseph F. (Joe) Harbison, Jr., Russell Co., KY (1933-2015)

He was a Veteran of th Korean War serving in the U.S. Navy until 1956 when he started his career in the finance field from which he retired in 1993. He was a native of Jefferson Co., KY, and was a resident of Russell County, KY, at the time of his death. His wife of 20 years, Elizabeth Harbison, survives. He leaves nine direct living descendants.

Joseph F. "Joe" Harbison, Jr., 81, of Russell Springs, entered eternal rest on Friday, July 17, 2015 at his home.

A memorial service will be held 2pmCT, Sunday, July 26, 2015, at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 N Main, Russell Springs, KY, with Bro. Carroll Egnew and Bro. Tony Stephens officiating. Visitation after will be 11amCT, Sunday.



Joseph F. "Joe" Harbison, Jr., Russell Co., KY (1933-2015)


He was born November 14, 1933 in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY, the son of the late Joseph F. Harbison, Sr. and Myrtle Ruth Slagle Harbison. He died Friday, July 17, 2015, in Russell Springs, Russell County, KY, at the age of 81 years, eight months, and three days.

He was a Veteran of th Korean War serving in the U.S. Navy until 1956 when he started his career in the finance field from which he retired in 1993.

Joe resided in Louisville, KY, Anderson, IN and Palmyra, IN before retiring to Russell Springs on 2007.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Vernon D. Harbison.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Elizabeth "Liz" Harbison, and the following:
  • Children: Gregg W. (Sara) Harbison, Louisville, KY; Todd R. Harbison, Muncie, IN; Denajo Harbison, Anderson, IN; and Cami Lee Harbison, New Albany, IN
  • Three grandchildren

  • Two great grandchildren

  • Two brothers: James (Donna) Harbison, Louisville, KY; and Robert (Mary Jane) Harbison, Louisville, KY

  • Sister-in-law: Jeanetta Harbison

  • Three nephews

  • Four nieces
  • Joe is a member of the Russell Springs Christian Church. The family requests memorials to Russell Springs Christian Church, Hospice of Lake Cumberland or American Cancer Society. These can be made at the funeral home.
