Mary Jo Owens, 75, Windsor, KY (1940-2015)

Nan, as she was called by her grandchildren, was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening and spending timewith her family. She served in ministry as the wife of a pastor for more than 40 years and was a faithful member of the Carter Ridge Baptist Church in Mintonville, KY. She had a gentle spirit, a loving heart and was a living example of a true Proverbs 31 wife and mother.

Mary Jo Owens, 75, of Windsor, Ky. died Monday, July 6, 2015 at her home.

Funeral services for Mary Jo Owens will be 1pmCT, Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 N Main Street, Russell Springs, KY, with Bro. Josh Owens and Bro. Reggie Tipton officiating. Visitation after 5pmCT, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Cedar Springs Cemetery



Pallbearers: Charles Goodin, James Goodin, Danny Hudson, Wesley Thompson, Jesse Owens, Jeremy Stearns, Owen Tipton, and Evan Tipton.


Mary Jo Owens, 75, Windsor, KY (1940-2015)

She was born March 8, 1940, in Casey County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Hobert & Hattie Buchanan Goodin. She died Monday, July 6, 2015, in Windsor, KY, at the age of 75 years, three months, and 28 days.

Nan, as she was called by her grandchildren, was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening and spending timewith her family. She served in ministry as the wife of a pastor for more than 40 years and was a faithful member of the Carter Ridge Baptist Church in Mintonville, KY. She had a gentle spirit, a loving heart and was a living example of a true Proverbs 31 wife and mother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Lee Owens.

Survivors include the following:
  • Three children: Ricky (Lesa) Owens, Teresa (Roger) Thompson, and Ashley (Reggie) Tipton, all of Windsor, KY

  • Ten grandchildren: Ashton (Jeremy) Stearns, Joshua (Andrea) Owens, Wesley Thompson, Jesse Owens, Savannah Owens, Owen Tipton, Evan Tipton, Atty-Kate Tipton, Anslee Tipton, Avery Tipton

  • Two sisters: Dorothy Emerson, Mt. Juliet, TN, and Margaret (Danny) Hudson, Sunbright, TN

  • Two brothers: Charles Goodin, Windsor, KY and James Goodin, Somerset, KY
