Matthew Paul Summers, 41, Marion County, KY (1974-2015)

He grew up in Marion, VA and moved to Norton in 1987 and later to Spokane, Washington, where he graduated high school from Deer Park High School. He attended Spokane Falls Junior College and Mountain Empire Community College. He was currently employed as a warehouse manager with Costco in Chicago, IL. He was an adventurous person who liked BMW motorcycles, bungee & base jumping, and had traveled the world extensively. He leaves two direct living descendants. He will be laid to rest in Pellyton Cemetery in Pellyton, Adair County, KY.

Matthew Paul Summers, age 41 passed away on Sunday. June 28, 2015 from injuries received in a motorcycle accident in Chicago, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 10amCT/11amET, Friday July 3, 2015 at the Bradley's Funeral Home, 938 N Main Street, Marion, VA. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5pm-7pmCT/6pm-8pmET,at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at 1pmCT/2pmET, Saturday July 4, 2015 at the Pellyton Cemetery, 100 Pellyton East Road, Pellyton, Adair County, KY.

Matt was born in Lebanon, Marion County, KY on May 17, 2015. He died Sunday, June 28 2015 in Chicago, Cook County, IL, at the age of 41 years, one month, and 14 days.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Jessie Barnett.

He grew up in Marion, VA and moved to Norton in 1987 and later to Spokane, Washington where he graduated high school from Deer Park High School. He attended Spokane Falls Junior College and Mountain Empire Community College. He was currently employed as a warehouse manager with Costco in Chicago, IL. He was an adventurous person who liked BMW motorcycles, bungee & base jumping, and had traveled the world extensively. Survivors include:

  • Aunt: Judy Shepherd

  • Uncle: Dean Barnett

  • Nieces & Nephews: Courtney Quillen, Brianna Crisp, Tori Summers, Tayven Summers, Emma Summers, Bristol Summers, Jaci Willis

  • Cousins Scott Shepherd, Jeremy Shepherd & family, Autumn Harden & family

  • Many many friends all over the world
