Geretha Elmore, Kings Mountain, KY (1921-2015)

She was the matriarch of a large, highly regarded family. She was the daughter of the late Jason and Pearlie Tarter Buis, and the widow of Ethridge Elmore. She leaves 47 direct living descendants. She was a homemaker, factory worker, and member of the Eubank Church of Christ.

Geretha Elmore of Kings Mountain, KY passed away Saturday, June 20, 2015 at the Casey County Hospital, Liberty, KY. She was 93.

Funeral services are 1pmCT/2pmET, Monday, June 22, 2015 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY, with Bro. Dale Robins officiating. Burial will follow in Poplar Hill Cemetery. Visitation is Monday from 10amCT/11amET, until the funeral service.



Geretha Elmore, Kings Mountain, KY (1921-2015)


Born Saturday, December 3, 1921 in Casey County, KY, she was the daughter of the late Jason and Pearlie Tarter Buis. She died Saturday, June 20, 2015, in Liberty, Casey County, KY, at the age of 93 years, six months, and 17 days.

She was a homemaker, factory worker, and member of the Eubank Church of Christ.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ethridge Elmore, who passed away November 12, 1986; a son, Bobby Joe Elmore; a daughter, Helen Elmore ; seven brothers, and two sisters.

Survivors include the following:
  • Two sons: Jim (and Margaret) Elmore of Cincinnati, Ohio; and Denton Elmore of Casey County, KY

  • Two daughters: Virginia R. Roy of Kingwood, Texas; and Wanda (and Johnnie) McAninch of West Chester, Ohio

  • Fourteen grandchildren

  • Twenty great-grandchildren

  • Nine great-great-grandchildren

  • A sister: Maureen Fair of Jamestown, KY
