AC School Board meets on Geo-Thermal settlement A few loose ends on the overall agreement, which will be considered at the next Special Regular Meeting on 25 Jun 2015, to take place of Regular Meeting which would have been Thu 18 Jun 2015. Superintendent Reed says he envisions no reason why school could be delayed because of remediation settlement and work on the Geo Thermal Field at Adair County Primary Center. By Ed Waggener Three of the five board members, Chairman Floyd Burton (Division 4), and members Mike Harris (5) and Terry Harvey (1) were present. Members Lisa Burton (3), and Quin Lasley (2) were absent. The board members met with Sarah Jarboe, attorney for the law firm English, Lucas, Priest and Owsley (ELPO) in the executive session. Superintendent Reed said that only two or so details, important to an agreement, are left to be inserted into the agreement, which is to be ready for the June 25, called meeting. He said that the board continues to hold any and all parties involved in the construction project accountable. He said that the settlement will mean only very, very minor financial cost to the board. With schools starting in just 52 days, he was asked if the settlement timing might affect the start date, and his answer was a firm "No." He said that he could divulge details, but that contingency language will be in the final agreement to make sure school will start on time. The remediation work will be on the same Geothermal Field, in the same location. He said that the awarding of bids for the new Bus Garage will ready for approval for the June 25 meeting. He added that most consider the 2014-15 School Year far and away the most successful ever. "I'm confident," he said, "that we will build on that success and that the coming year show even more improvement than we had in the past year. This story was posted on 2015-06-15 09:32:18
