7-month-old Burkesville, KY baby dies in 1-vehicle crash

Westbound 1998 Chevy truck left KY 449 roadway, struck a tree. Baby boy, Jordan Alexander - in child restraint seat but believed not to have been properly restrained - pronounced dead at the scene. 18 month old brother, also a passenger, and the driver, their father, airlifted to University of Louisville for non-life threatening injuries. Alcohol is believed to have been a factor, KSP alleges. Investigation is ongoing and criminal charges are expected. The Cumberland County Sheriff's Department, Fire, EMS and Rescue assisted KSP Tpr Bobby Maxwell and KSP Tpr. Jonathan Paull at the scene.

BURKESVILLE, KY (Sat 30 May 2015, 3:47pmCT) - Tpr. Bobby Maxwell is investigating a collision that occurred today at 4:58amCT, on KY 449, 5 miles south of Burkesville, KY.



42-year-old Timothy D. Alexander, of Burkesville, was operating a westbound 1998 Chevy truck when he left the roadway and struck a tree. Alexander was wearing a seatbelt and was flown to University of Louisville Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Alexander's children, 7-month-old Jordan Alexander and 18-month-old Timothy R. Alexander were passengers. Jordan Alexander was believed to have been in a child restraint seat but not properly restrained and was pronounced dead at the scene. Timothy R. Alexander was also in a child restraint seat and flown to University of Louisville Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor. The investigation is ongoing and criminal charges are expected. Tpr. Jonathan Paull, the Cumberland County Sheriff's Department, Fire, EMS and Rescue assisted Tpr. Maxwell at the scene.
