Opal Coomer, 85, Adair County, KY (1930-2015)

She was born in Fairplay, Adair County, KY, born a member of a highly regarded South Adair County family, and a resident of Palos Hills, IL at the time of her death. She will be laid to rest in her native Adair County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Joe Richard and Nona May Loy McClister. Her husband of 67 years, Floyd Coomer, survives. She leaves 31 direct living descendants.

Opal Amerine Coomer, 85 years of Palos Hills, IL formerly of the Fairplay Community of Adair County, KY passed away Thursday, May 28, 2015 at the Manorcare Nursing Home in Palos Hills, Illinois. Graveside service will be Thursday, June 4, 2015 at 11amCT, at Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY with interment followingthere. The family request visiting 4pm-8pmCT, on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY.

She was born Monday, May 19, 1930 in Fairplay, Adair County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Joe Richard and Nona May Loy McClister. She died Thursday, May 28, 2015, in Palos Hills, Cook County, IL, at the age of 85 years, nine days.

She was preceded in death by one son, Ronnie Coomer.

She is survived by her husband 67 years Floyd Coomer of Palos Hills, IL, and the following:
  • Two sons: Dennis Coomer & wife Linda of Orland, IL; and Floyd Coomer Jr. & wife Tina of Bridgeview, IL

  • Three daughters: Linda Dyer & husband Glenn of Darien, IL; Phyllis Szabo of Burbank, IL; and Debbie Coomer of Bridgeview, IL

  • A sister: Mae Curry of Russell Springs, KY

  • Seven grandchildren

  • Nineteen great grandchildren

  • Several nieces and nephews

  • Other relatives and friends
