Zada Sneed, 97, Adair Co., KY (1918-2015)

She was a native of Adair County, KY, and a resident of the county at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late Willie W. and NellieJanes Burris, and the widow of Lemon Sneed. She was the matriarch of a large, highly regarded family with 21 direct and 10 step living descendants. She was a member of Jones Chapel United Methodist Church and a homemaker.

Zada Sneed, 97, of Columbia, KY, died Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at 12:40pmCT, at the Westlake Regional Hospital Emergency Room, Columbia, KY.

Funeral service will be Friday, May 29, 2015 at 1pmCT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Mike Moon & Bro. John Blakey officiating. Burial will be in Jones Chapel Cemetery, 2267 Jones Chapel Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation will be after 4pmCT, Thursday, May 28, 2015.



Casket Bearers: Roger Baker, Bryan Baker, Jeremy Sneed, Jason Sneed, Bradley Karnes and Allen Helm.

Honorary Casket Bearers: Dana Helm, Cheryl Karnes, Melissa Sneed and Lori Sneed.

She was born Friday, March 22, 1918, in Adair County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Willie W. & Nellie Janes Burris. She died Tuesday, May 26, 2015, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 97 years, two months, and four days.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lemon Sneed on September 20, 1972; one brother, Kalup Burris; three sisters, Zelma Crawhorn, Magdalene Sneed and Ruby Compton; two grandchildren, Michael and Chad Compton; and two great-grandchildren.

She was a member of Jones Chapel United Methodist Church and a homemaker.

Survivors include:
  • Three sons: Bobby (Mildred) Sneed, Ralph (Janice) Sneed and James Sneed all of Columbia, KY
  • Two daughters: Jean (Dulath) Baker and Frances (Gary) Estes all of Columbia, KY
  • Two brothers: Clavis "Short" Burris and Tom Burris both of Columbia, KY
  • One sister: Lucille Reece of Indianapolis, IN
  • Eight grandchildren
  • Two step-grandchildren
  • Eight great-grandchildren
  • Six step-great-grandchildren
  • Two step-great-great-grandchildren
