Ernest Sparks, 83, Adair Co., KY (1931-2015)


Mr. Sparks was a greatly respected citizen. He was a member of the Hadley's Community Church and was retired from P. Lorillard Tobacco Company in Louisville after 33 years of service. He was a native of Adair County, KY and a resident of the county at the time of his death. He was the son of the late Mont & Nona Coomer Sparks. His wife, Maxine Sparks, survives. He leaves four direct living descendants.

Ernest Sparks, 83 of Columbia, KY passed away Saturday, May 23, 2015 at 12:10amET at the Hosparus Inpatient Care Center in Louisville, KY after several months illness.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at 1pmCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY. Bro. Elbert Hadley will officiate. Interment in the Haven Hill Cemetery. The family request visitation after 4:30pmCT on Monday at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.

He was born July 1, 1931 in Adair County, KY. He was the son of the late Mont and Nona Coomer Sparks. He died Saturday, May 23, in Lousville, Jefferson County, KY, at the age of 83 years, eight months, and 22 days.

He was also preceded in death by one sister, Minnie Catherine England in 2012.

Mr. Sparks was a member of the Hadley's Community Church and was retired from P. Lorillard Tobacco Company in Louisville after 33 years of service.

He is survived by:
  • His wife, Maxine Bell Sparks of Columbia, KY
  • One daughter, Michelle VanArsdale and husband Kevin of Columbia, KY
  • One sister, Nancy Lacy & husband Horace of Louisville, KY
  • One grandson, Noah VanArsdale
  • One granddaughter, Danielle Wilson
  • One great grandson, Grant Wilson
  • Nephews, Kenneth England, Glynn England, Mark Fudge, Doug Branham
  • Nieces, Kathy Pelston and Charlotte Bryant
  • A host of other relatives and friends survive

Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, is in charge of arrangements.
