Mattie Belle Bray, 82, Taylor County, KY (1932-2015)

She was a native of Taylor County, KY, and a resident of Jefferson County, at the time of her death. She will be laid to rest in Callahan Cemetery in Feathersburg, KY. She was the daughter of the late William and the late Margie (Davis) Bray. She was the matriarch of a very large, respected family. She leaves 37 direct living descendants, spanning four generations. A homemaker, she raised eight children. She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Jones Chapel United Methodist Church.

Mattie Belle Bray, age 82, of Louisville, formerly of Campbellsville, died Wednesday, May 6, 2015 in Louisville, KY.

The funeral will be held 11amCT/12pm noon ET, on Saturday, May 9, at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home, 503 E Main Street, Campbellsville, KY, with Bro. Charles Steven Rawlings officiating. Burial will be in Callahan Cemetery, 4571 Speck Ridge Road, Campbellsville, KY (Feathersburg community in Adair County). The family requests visitation 4pm-7pmCT/5pm-8pmET, May 8th at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home, Campbellsville, KY.

Mattie was born Wednesday, July 6, 1932 in Taylor County, KY. She was the daughter of the late William and the late Margie (Davis) Bray. She died Wednesday, May 6, 2015, in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY, at the age of 82 years, eight months.

She was also predeceased by her son, Rollin Viers, a brother, Junior Bray, a daughter, Verly Marie Brown and a sister, Dorothy Greer.

A homemaker, she raised eight children. She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Jones Chapel United Methodist Church.

She is survived by the following:
  • Two daughters: Teresa Richardson of Louisville, KY; and Joy Rawlings of Lebanon, KY

  • Four sons: William Viers and his wife, Marilyn, Gary Viers, and his wife, Debbie and Randy Viers all of Elk Horn, KY; and Larry Viers of Greensburg, KY

  • Seven grandchildren

  • Twenty great-grandchildren

  • And four great-great-grandchildren.
