Teacher Appreciation Week May 4-8

Take a moment sometime this week and thank a teacher, current or past, for all their hard work and dedication.

By: Shamarie Claiborne

This week May 4-8 is Teacher Appreciation Week across the Commonwealth. I personally had two teachers that really made an impact on me. The first one is Mrs. Holt in 5th Grade because she was the first public school teacher I had ever had. The second was my High School English Teacher, Mrs. Judie Alley, who I love and stay in touch with even now that I am a grown woman.

If you have time this week, find a teacher who has made a difference in your life and just tell them thanks. If you see a current Adair County Staff member out in public somewhere, tell them you appreciate all they do for the students of Adair County.

When I asked Mr. Reed what his feelings were about this week he stated "I hope all Adair Countians will join our central office staff and me in acknowledging the work teachers are doing to change the quality of life in our county. I hope you will take a few minutes to thank teachers for all they do on behalf of Adair County school children - both in and out of the classroom - day in and day out. Teachers are the backbone of public education in Kentucky and deserve our thanks more often than they receive it."

So take a moment sometime this week and thank a teacher, current or past, for all their hard work and dedication.

Teacher Appreciation Week

2015-05-05 - Columbia, KY - Photo by Shamarie Claiborne. Nava Green and Tashina Overstreet are being helped by their 6th Grade Social Studies Teacher Lachana Scholl. She is guiding students as they complete graphic organizers. Mrs. Scholl is only one of the 191 dedicated teachers employed at the Adair County Schools. We are blessed to have such great talent working towards a brighter future for our students as well as our community. Remember too, it is Teacher Appreciation Week May 4 - 8. So please take the time to say thanks to a teacher.
