Commentary: Election process questions & Adair Bd. of Elections 'As you can see there are numerous questions the voters have a right to know the answers to and understand. I believe everyone now understands there will not be a special election, so no additional cost will occur. The Mayoral race will be placed on the ballot in November's election.' - SALLY KEMP About: The decision of the Adair County Board of Elections to appeal the ruling of Adair County Judge Judy Vance, voiding the November 4, 2015 mayoral election Click headline for full article Commentary by Sally Kemp The recent election situation has really posed a lot of interesting discussions. Recently, there were posts on Facebook regarding, in particular, the Mayoral race. Some were positive and several negative. I posted a question to my own Facebook page and received lots of positive feedback. I would like to have some official answers rather than speculation. When I read of voters being denied their civil right to vote, I'm very concerned. Voting is one of our last remaining freedoms. I, personally, feel if just one voter, just ONE, was denied the right to vote it is enough for a new election. However, it seems there are some that feel differently. I've listed some of the questions that swirl around this scenario. If you would be so kind to provide a platform for an open and honest answer/discussion to these it would be much appreciated. I'm not one to want big long political responses. Just straight forth and honest answers would be great! I have read way too much smashing of the candidates and their families. That is neither desirable nor necessary. Both men, as far as I know, are good men. That's not what is in question. Voters being denied their civil rights, possible machine tampering and other irregularities are.
However, individuals being denied their civil right to vote are a major part of this issue. The cost of an appeal is a major issue, as well! This story was posted on 2015-04-27 07:17:28
