Storm of 25 Apr 2015: Montpelier community of Adair Co.

Some residences damaged, but no injuries. Several barns, outbuildings, and a silo damaged. County road crews clearing tree damage. RECC, Duo-County out, as well as ACSO, SAR, Adair EM and Third District Magistrate Sammy Baker.

MONTPELIER, KY (1:13amCT, Sun 26 Apr 2015) - The Montpelier community in Adair Co. has sustained damage from this weather event.

We are out assessing damage and will be in contact with the national weather service in the upcoming days.



Several barns, outbuildings and a silo have sustained major damage. Some residences have minor damage but no injuries have been reported.

As of 12:30amCT, Adair County road crews are out clearing tree damage, RECC and Duo-County are out working to restore damaged lines.

Adair Sheriff Deputies, Adair SAR, Magistrate Baker and Adair EM are on scene.

Storm 25 Apr 2015: Cedar tree no match for high winds

This 13-inch healthy cedar was splintered by the damaging high winds which caused property damaged still being assessed in the Montpelier area of Adair County on Saturday night, 25 Apr 2015.

Storm 25 Apr 2015: Roof blown off building, Montpelier area

Corrugated metal from a nearby building was wrapped around a mailbox following the storm which hit the Montpelier area of Adair County last night, Sat 25 Apr 2015. The sign is at E Curry Road, near Pleasant Hill Christian Church in the Montpelier area of Adair County.

Storm of 25 Apr 2015: Debris wrapped around utility pole

The beautiful Eastern Red cedars which dot the countryside and line the fence rows in the Montpelier area of Adair County suffered a great deal of damage from the high winds which did extensive property damage Saturday, 25 Apr 2015. Above, a cedar bough and other debris were blown around a utility pole.

Silo Damage in Montpelier

Mike Keltner writes, "This is damage I assessed this morning in Adair County in the Montpelier Community. The property owner had a few cows limping but we have no injuries to humans reported from last nights event. If you are familiar with silo construction please take note of the energy that was required to do this damage."

Cabin Creek Bridge undamage amid storm debris

The last of the 20 County Road Bridges built (of 80 bridges total in the county system) during the eight-year tenure of CJE Ann Melton, suffered no damage from the the storm. Trees, large and small, fell all around it. (It may not be Cabin Creek; that's what I remember; someone correct me if I'm wrong.) The bridge is often called the "Joe & Ada Coffey Bridge. Joe Coffey used to cross it to get to school. Ada is the sweetheart he married, nee Ada Troutman. Their honeymoon continues about a mile down the road, toward Montpelier on Old Montpelier Road.
