Lindsey Wilson Football donates to Adair County Food Pantry

More than 500 non-perishable food items were donated

By Charles Balcom

COLUMBIA, KY - The Lindsey Wilson football annual Blue-White spring game on Saturday, April 18, 2015, proved to be quite the success on all fronts.

While the student-athletes and coaches participated in their final spring practice, Blue Raider football fans donated over 500 non-perishable food items as their ticket into the game.

Those items were donated earlier this week by members of the football program to the Adair County Food Pantry.

"This is the sixth-consecutive year that we've used our spring game as a platform to help others in the Columbia and Adair County area," head coach Chris Oliver said. "We are very grateful for the efforts of our fans that helped make this food drive a success once again."

"We are glad to be able to help out in this way," defensive coordinator and community outreach coordinator Mike Gutelius said. "Collecting non-perishable food items and delivering them to the Adair County Food Pantry not only helps out the community, but it also reminds our guys of how fortunate they are."

The spring game represented the final practice this season for Lindsey Wilson.
