Mabel Burton, age 91 years of Columbia, KY died Wednesday April 8, 2015 at 8pmCT, at Westlake Regional Hospital, Columbia, KY.

Funeral services will be Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 1pmCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, with Rev. Junior Holmes the officiating clergy. Interment in Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation will be after 4:30pmCT, Friday, April 10, 2015.

She was born on Saturday, June 9, 1923 in Adair County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Oscar & Laura Alley Smiley. She died Wednesday, April 8, 2015, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 91 years, seven months, and 30 days.

She was the widow of Waymon Burton, who preceded her in death on Aug. 25, 2004 She is survived by the following:
  • Two sisters: Jean Quinn of Columbia, KY and Marie Stephens of Indianapolis, IN.

  • Two brothers: Philip (Brenda) Smiley of Campbellsville, KY and Bobby Smiley of Greenwood, IN

  • One sister-in-law: Sue Fisette of Edinburgh, IN

  • Several nieces, nephews

  • And a host of other relatives and friends
She was a member of Purdy Separate Baptist Church and retired from Union Underwear in Campbellsville, KY.
