Requested Information from Neal Gold, Westlake CEO

The Adair County Hospital Board of Trustees got an update on the possibility of emerging from Chapter 9 bankruptcy last night, Tuesday, March 31, 2015.

The next step in bankruptcy court will be to engage in a mediation with creditors. The judge in that case is working to schedule that with another Federal Judge.

Discussions with new prospective partner

The hospital continues to have productive discussions with a prospective partner, and they are prepared to start negotiations lawyer to lawyer. They wish to remain anonymous until all their major questions and concerns are answered. All in all this is a very positive development.

New positive developments
  • New endoscopes have been ordered and were shipped today, March 31, 2015.
  • The tele-psychiatry group that we've been working with has provided us with a pricing model that will require an average daily census of approximately nine patients in order for the Behavioral Health unit to be profitable. We are continuing negotiations, but reopening of the unit will be somewhat dependent on what our prospective partner would like to do.
  • We have a psychiatric nurse practitioner very interested in talking to us about a position in the Behavioral unit if we are to reopen it.
  • An Internist/Neurologist with family ties to this area has expressed interest in working for Westlake.
  • We've engaged a Speech Therapist on an "as needed" basis to provide speech therapy to our swing bed patients (a swing bed is very similar to a short-term nursing home stay for rehabilitation purposes)
Weather adversely affects financials

The February financials were affected negatively by the three days that the clinics were closed and the poor road conditions that resulted from the winter storms.
