How many have to die at the Bypass intersections . . . . . . before the focus in this county shifts from unnecessary new road construction to improving safety on the most recent road construction in the county? Personal commentary Several years ago, when Greg and I bought our first new vehicle, several people asked me (as I was the primary driver of said vehicle) if I was afraid of having a wreck and damaging it because of so many people's haphazard driving habits. My reply was that I figured the safest way to drive around town was to assume there was going to be a bomb dropped in front of me any second so I watch traffic flow and my driving. That said, why hasn't something been done at the intersections on the bypass to make drivers aware there is an intersection ahead and that they may have to stop at a red light or stop sign, and/or watch for other traffic? There are several options available, and any or all could be put into use. I know people driving behind me on 61/Burkesville Road when I go through that bypass intersection are most likely calling me assorted uncomplimentary things because I slow down considerably, ride the brakes, and make sure I check traffic both directions as I go through the intersection. How many more people are going to have to die on the bypass intersections before the focus in this county shifts from unnecessary new road construction to improving safety on the most recent road construction in the county? - JOYCE M.
