By Larry Smith, FM 92.7 The WAVE & FM 99.9 the Big Dawg

Russell Springs, KY, Police Chief Joseph M. Irvin, has issued the following state concerning two teachers, one an employee of the Russell County School District, the other of the Casey County School District:
"The Russell Springs Police Department recently received a complaint regarding inappropriate communications/interactions between a teacher and student. An investigation ensued which is ongoing. Thus far, the investigation has substantiated complaints against two teachers, to the level that it was deemed necessary to share the most pertinent evidence with school officials. One teacher was employed in Russell County and the other teacher was employed in Casey County.

"As of this date, this department has not filed any criminal charges against any employee of any school district. Nor has this department appeared before any grand jury pursuing any charges against any employee of any school district. In the event any further allegations of this nature are substantiated, this department will continue to immediately cooperate with the proper officials to ensure the safety and well being of the students/children within our school systems."
Neither the names of the teachers nor indication of the nature of the 'inappropriate communications/interactions between a teacher and student.' has been indicated. -LARRY SMITH, Oper
