LWC Softball hosts doubleheader vs. Cumberland in home opener TODAY, TUESDAY 24 Mar 2015 By Tyler Scott News from Lindsey Wilson College COLUMBIA, KY - Blue Raider Softball hosts Cumberland (Lebanon, TN) at 2pmCT and 4pmCT Tuesday, March, 24, 2015, at Lindsey Wilson Park 928 Russell Road/KY 80, Columbia, Kentucky, 42728. The Blue Raiders (17-6, 1-3 MSC) opened conference play last weekend taking one out of four games at No. 24 Campbellsville (KY). The team lost the first three games by just one run each before taking the series finale 5-3 on March 22. 2014. Jenna Firestein went 3-for-5 with one RBI in the win, while Amanda Trampe went 2-for-4 with a run scored in the win. Casey Bryan pitched a complete game giving up three runs on six hits and striking out five batters. Chelsea Showers leads Lindsey Wilson with a .494 batting average and has smashed eight home runs on the year. Andrea Whelan is batting .284 and is second on the squad with six home runs. Bryan leads the pitching rotation with a 7-2 record and a 1.53 earned run average. Jordan Hood and Lyndsey Parden are each 5-2 on the season. Hood has a team-high 70 strikeouts, while Parden has a 3.44 earned run average and 37 strikeouts. The Bulldogs (7-11, 3-1 MSC) took three out of four games from Shawnee State (Portsmouth, Ohio), most recently winning 1-0 on March 22, 2015. Vienna Benavides has a .438 batting average and 10 runs scored, while Tessa Tomaselli is batting .375 and a team-leading 12 RBI's. Kristen Abell has compiled a 5-3 record and a 4.71 earned run average on the mound.
