Kenny Absher: Wonders about future of Fairgrounds

By Kenny Absher
Personal commentary

I have heard several times that the Fairgrounds has been sold by the VFW to Lindsey Wilson College to be utilized as a indoor football practice field.

When you hear something enough times, it is time to ask if it is true.

While LWC is an asset to our community and I am quite proud of Mr. Bill (Bill Luckey) and his accomplishments, if there is truth to this, I wonder if this is a wise choice for them.

Many, many years ago LWC was aware that future growth in the city limits would be a problem for them.

To take away such a valuable asset, which has been used by our citizens for centuries, will set LWC back decades in good will from our community.

I've always respected our Veterans and ask that if there is truth to this to reconsider and continue using the Fairgrounds for all the people and not private enterprise.

I look forward to answers.

Thank you,
Kenny Absher
