Billy Ray Melson age 63 years of Columbia died Thursday, February 26, 2015 at 6:35pmCT, at his home.

Funeral service Monday, March 2, 2015at 1pmCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY with Minister Lynn Williams officiating. Interment will be in McClister Cemetery, 4138 Fairplay Road, Fairplay, KY. Visitation will be after 4:30pmCT, Sunday, March 1, 2015, at the funeral home.

He was born on Sunday, September 23, 1951 in Oak Park, Cook Park, IL. He was the son of the late Robert Ray Melson and Doris Gadberry Melson, who survives, of Columbia, KY. He died on Thursday, February 26, 2015, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 63 years, five months, and three days.

Besides his mother, he is survived by the following:
  • One daughter: Tonya (Clinton) Bunch, of Columbia, KY

  • Four sisters: Jo Ann Smith of Columbia, KY, Brenda Richardson of Glasgow, KY, Rene’ (Jamey) Hayes of Columbia, KY; and Gayle West of Columbia, KY

  • Special friend: Connie Potts of Columbia, KY

  • Five grandchildren: Lakesha, wife of P.J. Turner, Haylee Keith, Tristen Keith, Mallory Bunch and Reagan Hadley

  • One step granddaughter: Taylor Bunch.
  • One great grandchild: Raelee Turner

  • Several nieces, nephews

  • And a host of other relatives and friends
He was preceded in death by a son, Billy Ray Melson, Jr.
