Lindsey Wilson Baseball drops doubleheader, series to Madonna By: Chris Wells MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- A stagnant offense doomed Lindsey Wilson baseball in the first game and eight errors cost the Blue Raiders game two as Madonna (Mich.) earned a doubleheader sweep today at Paterson Field. The Blue Raiders (5-5) failed to score for the first time this season in a game in a 2-0 loss in today's opener. Lindsey Wilson dropped the second game 10-9 thanks in large part to a season-high eight errors. Madonna (5-3) takes three out of four in the weekend series -- the first series loss for the Blue Raiders this season. Lindsey Wilson's Scott Sebald (1-1) was the hard-luck loser in the first game. He surrendered both runs while scattering seven hits in the setback. Sebald struck out five without issuing a walk in a complete-game effort. Madonna's Evan Piechota (1-1) allowed just four hits while earning the seven-inning complete game win. Aaron Ashton led the Blue Raider offense with two hits in his three at bats. Offense was not the problem in the series finale for the Blue Raiders -- who scored nine runs on 11 hits. The Blue Raider defense, however, committed multiple errors in three different innings leading to seven unearned runs in the game. Ashton and Fabian Chirino each had two hits while Alex Bautista had a two-run, pinch-hit home run in the loss. Aaron Doughty suffered the loss in relief despite not giving up an earned run. Doughty (0-1) allowed three unearned runs on one hit over 2-2/3 innings of work. This story was posted on 2015-02-22 08:21:22
