Local Veterans need a closer VA Hospital Commentary by Jeffrey W. Campbell To who it may concern, My name is Jeff Campbell, I have been in the Army National Guard for 30 years, and a veteran for 24 years. I have traveled to Zorn in Louisville (96 miles) and Grayson CO (76 miles) many times over the past 24 years, and personally I think it would be a great thing for the veterans living in the Taylor, Green, Adair CO areas to have a VA Hospital closer to our homes. It is a hardship to have to travel to Grayson CO, and Louisville (Zorn) for a VA appointment. I know they reimburse our gas expenses, but it usually takes 4 to 6 weeks to get the reimbursement, and it is a safety issue for the disabled veterans being on the road for such a lengthy time, during each visit to the VA. There is a building available in Adair County for such a place to start. I believe it would benefit many soldiers and the US Government. The veterans would be a lot closer to home, which would save several hours of traveling on highway, each time I go to Louisville and back home spend around 4 hours on the road, (less chance of getting in a accident) going to VA, save the government money on paying out money on fuel cost to veterans, and the chance of having another claim from an accident, while going to their appointment. And it would be easier on all of the disabled veterans health issues. Thank you for taking the time to listening to my idea. --Jeffrey W.
