COLUMBIA, KY - The Lindsey Wilson College spring theater season will feature an interpretation of apocalyptic literature, a Shakespeare classic and original work by the college's theatre students.

The spring theatre season will open in late March with a multimedia dramatization of the Book of Revelation. April will include an evening of one-act, student-directed plays, a production of William Shakespeare's Julius Ceasar and a reading of new plays by LWC students.

"It's a very diverse and ambitious schedule, and it's one that reflects that continued maturity of this program," said LWC Assistant Professor of Theatre Robert Brock. "It's also a schedule that audience members should very much enjoy."

The Book of Revelation: A Multimedia Dramatization will be performed March 25-26 and March 29, 2015 by Brock.

"This is a presentation, word-for-word, of the entire Book of Revelation," Brock said. "In the early centuries, that's how these books were passed on -- somebody read them and there was an audience. This is, in a way, going back to that tradition."

An evening of one-act plays will be directed by LWC students April 9-10, 2015. The evening will consist of about nine, 10-minute plays.

"This is something I've wanted to do for a long time -- show student work," Brock said. "Some of the plays were written by student playwrights, so we'll be able to show off what students have going on here, and that is exciting." Brock said he decided to direct Julius Ceasar -- which will be presented April 22-24, and April 26, 2015, -- in response to student demand to produce another Shakespeare play.

"The students wanted to do Shakespeare, and we haven't done this one," Brock said. "It's such a wonderful story with great characters, and it's a story that is timeless."

The season will conclude with readings of new plays by LWC students, which will be April 27-28. So far, the third-annual event has resulted in the production of one student-written play, Angels My Father Sent, which was produced in spring 2014 and entered into national competition.
