Kenneth Loy, 70, Russell Co., KY (1944-2015)

He was the patriarch of a large, distinguished family primarily centered in Russell and Adair Counties. He was the son of the late James Alexander & Gertrude Lawless Loy. He was a retired educator and former Superintendent of Russell Co. Schools. He was a member of Russell Springs Christian Church.

Kenneth Loy, 70, of N. Hwy. 55, Jamestown, died Sunday, January 18, 2015 at his home.

Funeral service for Kenneth Loy will be 11amCT. Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 N Main Street, Russell Springs, KY, with Bro. Tony Stephens and Bro. Jimmy Bunch officiating. Visitation after 5pmCT on Monday. Burial will be in the Loy Family Cemetery. Special music will be performed by Mike Engle.

He was born on December 14, 1944, in Jamestown, KY. He was the son of the late James Alexander & Gertrude Lawless Loy. He died Sunday, January 18, 2015, in Jamestown, Russell County, KY, at the age of 70 years, one month, and four days.

He was a retired educator and former Superintendent of Russell Co. Schools. He was a member of Russell Springs Christian Church.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Loy.

Survivors include:
  • His wife, Deanna Kathleen Davis Loy, Jamestown, KY
  • Three children: Dr. Melanie Loy-Flanagan, Russell Springs, KY; John Kenneth (Stacy) Loy, Jamestown, KY; and Dr. Eric (Ginger) Loy, Jamestown, KY
  • Eight grandchildren: Caleb Flanagan, Maggie Flanagan, Lizzie Loy, Sarah Loy, Isabelle Loy, Abigail Loy, Molly Caroline Loy, Eric Griffin Loy
  • Three sisters: Bobbie (Randall) Jones, Columbia, Ky, Nellie Wilson, Jamestown, Joyce (Gene) Hoots, Columbia, Ky
  • Three brothers: Clifford Loy, Mt. Washington, Ky, Billy Jack Loy, Russell Springs, Charles (Lynda) Loy, Russell Springs
The family requests memorials to Russell Springs Christian Church Youth Program. These can be made at the funeral home or church.
