Injury Wreck occurs on KY 55 N, Columbia, KY, 11 Jan 2015 Collision follows attempt by driver to make u-turn from southbound shoulder. Traffic halted briefly on KY 55/Campbellsville Road. Occupants of turning vehicle all taken to Westlake for treatment of possible injuries. ACSO Deptuy Adam Craves investigates. Click on headline for complete story By Deputy Adam Cravens The Adair Sheriff's Office responded to a two vehicle injury collision Sunday night, January 11, shortly after 10pmCT, on Campbellsville Road in front of Trinity Methodist Church. The accident occurred when William Stump, 21 of Cane Valley, KY, while operating a 1994 Ford Ranger had pulled onto the shoulder of the road while southbound and attempted to make a U-turn back towards Cane Valley. In doing so Stump pulled into the direction of oncoming traffic and Michael Voelkel who was driving his 2005 Chevy Cobalt southbound was unable to avoid the collision. Voelkel's vehicle, after impact, traveled several yards before stopping in a ditch, while Stumps pickup remained in the road. Stump and his passengers, April Stump, 26 and their 19 month old daughter, were transported by Adair EMS to Westlake Regional Hospital for possible injuries. Voelkel waived transport at the scene. Traffic was briefly halted to remove vehicles and cleanup the scene. Deputy Adam Cravens investigated the collision.
