Click on headline for complete story By Tyler Scott COLUMBIA, KY - The 22nd-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team sprinted to a 91-65 victory over visiting Oakland City (IN) Thursday night, January 8, 2015 at Biggers Sports Center. The Blue Raiders (12-4) opened the game on an 18-9 run led by Chanel Roberts' six points, while Alexus Chinn and Kayla Richardson each tallied four points in the seven and a half minute span. Oakland City (4-10) then went on a 7-2 run cutting the Lindsey Wilson lead to four at 20-16 with nine minutes left in the first half. With 7:58 left in the first half, Michelle Montgomery scored a basket, followed by three-point baskets by Cassidy Martin and Richardson to ignite a 25-4 run that gave Lindsey Wilson a 45-20 halftime lead. The Blue Raiders shot 45.5 percent from the field in the opening half, while the Mighty Oaks recorded just a 29.0 percentage. Lindsey Wilson had 19 points off 13 Oakland City turnovers while the Blue Raiders committed just two turnovers in the opening frame. In the second half, Oakland City showed some life by bolting out to an 18-3 run cutting the Blue Raider lead to 10 at 48-38 with 14:42 left in the game. Seventeen seconds later, Bre Elder scored five-straight points, halting any hopes of a comeback by the Mighty Oaks as Lindsey Wilson emerged to a 51-38 with 14:25 left. Roberts then scored five of the team's next 13 points, which was then capped off by a three-point basket by Cassidy Martin to give the Blue Raiders a 67-44 lead with 9:13 left in the game. Despite the big lead for the Blue Raiders, Oakland City managed to go on a 16-7 run cutting the deficit to 14 at 74-60 with 4:55 remaining in the game. After a free throw by Billie Hearn and basket by Roberts, Richardson connected on two-straight three pointers to give the team an 85-60 lead with 2:12 remaining in the game. With 15 seconds left and Lindsey Wilson leading 89-65, Hannah DeBruin scored a basket to give the team its largest lead of the game at 26 points. The Blue Raiders outscored the Mighty Oaks 17-5 in the final four and a half minutes. Roberts led the Blue Raiders with 19 points on 6-of-11 shooting and eight rebounds. Martin tallied 16 points, while Richardson scored 15 points and Elder added 14. Lindsey Wilson shot 45.1 percent from the floor and Oakland City shot 37.3 percent.
