COLUMBIA, KY – After trailing by as many as 25 points, the Lindsey Wilson men’s basketball team rallied to within six late in the game before eventually falling to No. 8 Martin Methodist (TN) on Monday night, 4 Jan 2015, at Biggers Sports Center, 360 Spickard Drive, Columbia, KY

The Blue Raiders (9-8) found themselves down big early as Martin Methodist (13-1) opened the game on a 15-1 run over the first five and a half minutes. Lindsey Wilson started the game 0-for-9 from the floor, including going 0-for-7 from three-point range. The Blue Raiders made their first field-goal attempt at the 13:44 mark on a jump shot by Charles Sutton.

The dry spell continued for Lindsey Wilson as the next made shot from the floor did not come until the 10:28 mark on a three pointer by Bryan Wallace to make it 19-8 in favor of the RedHawks.

Lindsey Wilson tried to keep it close, cutting the lead to eight at 8:38, but Martin Methodist proceeded to close out the opening half with a 21-6 run taking a 42-19 lead into the break.

In the second half, the Blue Raiders found some life going on a 10-4 run to open the frame and cut the lead to 46-29 with 16:21 left in the game.

But Martin Methodist pushed the lead back up to as many as 21 in the second half at 61-40 with 12:13 to play. Then the Blue Raiders slowly began mounting their comeback.

Back-to-back three pointers by Lewis and Wallace cut the lead to six at 72-66 with 1:46 to play, the closest the Blue Raiders had been since it was 3-0 at the 19:40 mark.

Lindsey Wilson had a chance to cut it even closer, but a costly turnover allowed Martin Methodist to push the lead back to eight points before a pair of Wallace free throws dropped it down to six again.

But the cold shooting bug reared its head again as a missed field goal and a pair of missed free throws allowed the RedHawks to score seven straight and build a 13-point lead with 36 seconds to play.
