Nathan D. Hale, Adair Co., KY, Russell Co., KY native (1934-2015)

Nathan was a member of Trinity United Methodist where he served in many areas of worship & service to his church. He was manager at the Ben Franklin Store & Mana Shoes in Columbia, KY. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict, serving his country in the U.S. Navy. He was the patriarch of a highly regarded family and the widower of Martha Hammond Hale. He leaves seven direct living descendants.

Nathan D. Hale, age 80 years of Columbia, KY passed away Friday, January 2, 2014 at 6:02amCT, at his home.

Funeral service will be Sunday, January 4, 2015 at 1:30pmCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY with Rev. Steve Pescosolido and Rev. David Blair the officiating clergy. Interment in Hale Cemetery in Russell County, KY. Visitation will be after 3:30pmCT, Saturday, January 3, 2014, at the funeral home.

He was born on Monday, January 8, 1934 in Russell County, KY. He was the son of the late Herbert Hines & Geneva V. Perkins Hale. He died Friday, January 2, 2014, in Coumbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 80 years, 11 months, and 27 days.

He was the son of the late Herbert Hines & Geneva V. Perkins Hale.

Preceded in death by his wife, Martha Hammond Hale, on May 16, 2008 and one brother, Herman Max Hale.

Nathan is survived by the following:
  • Two daughters: Jennifer (Bill) Holland of Russell Springs, KY; and Monica (Dean) Davis of Anderson, South Carolina

  • One son: Mark (Michele) Hale of Glensfork, KY

  • Two grandchildren: Summer Dawn Davies and Andrew Emmitt Sturgill

  • Two great grandchildren: Kate Davies and Caroline Davies

  • A cherished companion: Betty Coop of Columbia, KY

  • A life long friend: Glen Blair
Nathan was a member of Trinity United Methodist where he served in many areas of worship & service to his church. He was manager at the Ben Franklin Store & Mana Shoes in Columbia, KY. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict, serving his country in the U.S. Navy. Expression of sympathy may take the form of donation to Trinity United Methodist Church, Gideon Bibles or UCSS and may be made at the funeral home or the church.
