Verneeda Jones, 89, Knifley, KY (1925-2014)

She was a member of Plum Point Baptist Church and a homemaker. She was a native of Perry County, IL and was a resident of Adair County, KY, at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late Fred & Bessie Kimmel Hooper. She was the widow of Lyman O. Key and later married Cotton Jones, who also preceded her in death. She leaves 20 direct living descendants.

Verneeda Jones age 89 years of Knifley, KY, passed away Saturday, December 27, 2014, at 11:40amCT, at Westlake Regional Hospital Emergency Room, Columbia, KY.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at 11amCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, with Rev. Lewis Haynes the officiating clergy. Interment in the Elliott Cemetery in Taylor County. Visitation will be after 4pmCT, Tuesday, December 30, 2014, at the funeral home.

She was born on September 15, 1925 in Pickneyville, Perry County, IL. She was the daughter of the late Fred & Bessie Kimmel Hooper. She died Saturday, December 27, 2014, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 89 years, three months, and 12 days.

She was the widow of the late Lyman O. Key & later married to Cotton Jones who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one son, Robin Key.

Survived b the following:
  • One son: Bug (Tammy) Jones of Knifley, KY

  • One daughter: Donna Key Billings of Joliet, IL

  • Seven grandchildren

  • Eleven great grandchildren

  • Several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends
She was a member of Plum Point Baptist Church and a homemaker.
