Bertha J. Goodin, 92, Adair County, KY, (1922-2014)

She was an active & devoted member of Bearwallow United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years & was a United Methodist Women member. She devoted her life to caring for others as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She and her sisters, Gladys McQuaide & Emma Goodin founded Goodins Rest Home in 1959. She also worked at Adair Memorial Hospital, Summit Manor, Westlake Regional Hospital and Dr. Siady’s office. She retired in 1997, but continued to care for friends & family.

Bertha J. Goodin age 92 years of 6320 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at 2:52 PM at Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green, KY.

Funeral service Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 10:30amCT, at Bearwallow United Methodist Church, 6090 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. Clergy officiating will be Rev. Glenn LaFond & Dr. Marian Smith Interment in Bearwallow United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation after 4pmCT Friday, December 19, 2014, and after 6amCT until 8:30amCT Saturday, May 20, 2014 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Geensburg Street, Columbia, KY and after 9amCT at the Church.



Bertha J. Goodin, 92, Adair County, KY, (1922-2014)

She was born on Sunday, October 22, 1922 in Adair County, KY. She was the daughter of the late William Parker & Cordia Curry Goodin. She died Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at 2:52pmCT, in Bowling Green, Warren County, KY at the age of 92 years, one month, and 24 days.

She is survived by the following:
  • Two sisters: Bessie Curry & Gladys McQuaide of Columbia, KY

  • Nine nephews & three nieces including: Dr. Ben McQuaide & wife Sydney of Richmond, KY; Harriet McQuaide Gold & husband Neal of Columbia, KY & Dr. Glenn McQuaide & wife Mary of Columbia, KY

  • Several great nieces & nephews including Michael & Jonathan Gold and Sarah& Lauren McQuaide.
Several other relatives & friends.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Emma Goodin 2007, Clarice Holmes In 1996 and Annie Goodin in 1910, and a brother, Clarence Goodin in 1919.

She was an active & devoted member of Bearwallow United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years & was a United Methodist Women member. She devoted her life to caring for others as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Expression of sympathy may take the form of a donation to Bearwallow Cemetery & may be left at the funeral home.
