News from Lindsey Wilson College

COLUMBIA, KY - More than four dozen Adair County children will have a warmer winter thanks to the work of a Lindsey Wilson College student.

Lindsey Wilson senior Brooke Harmon of Columbia led an effort to collect 51 winter coats for children from economically disadvantaged children. The coats were distributed Tuesday, December 16, 2014, at Adair County Head Start.

Harmon continued a tradition that was started three years ago by students in the Lindsey Wilson Bonner Scholars program, according to Lindsey Wilson Director of Civic Engagement Amy Thompson-Wells. During that period, almost $4,000 has been collected from area businesses and individuals to purchase more than 150 coats for area children.

"Brooke loves her community, and she just saw a need here in Adair County with our children," Thompson-Wells said. "So many of them go without, and she wanted to make sure they have a coat for the winter."
